Abstract

The integration of digital technologies into pediatric dental care has revolutionized diagnosis, treatment planning, behavior management, preventive dentistry, and patient communication. Contemporary pediatric dentistry increasingly utilizes digital radiography, cone beam computed tomography (CBCT), intraoral scanners, computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM), three-dimensional (3D) printing, teledentistry, artificial intelligence (AI), virtual reality (VR), and augmented reality (AR) to improve clinical efficiency and patient experiences. These innovations provide enhanced diagnostic accuracy, reduced radiation exposure, improved treatment precision, better behavior guidance, and increased patient engagement. This review examines the evolution, applications, advantages, limitations, and future prospects of digital technologies in pediatric dental care. Current evidence suggests that digital integration significantly improves treatment outcomes, patient cooperation, and clinical workflow efficiency. Emerging technologies such as AI-driven diagnostics, robotic-assisted procedures, digital twins, and personalized pediatric oral healthcare systems are expected to further transform the field.
