The journal follows the recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the World Medical Association Declaration of Helsinki, and other applicable national and institutional ethical guidelines. Manuscripts that fail to comply with these ethical standards may be rejected or withdrawn from the publication process.
Human Rights
Research involving human participants must adhere to the highest ethical standards to protect the rights, dignity, safety, and well-being of participants.
Authors must ensure that:
- Research has been reviewed and approved by an appropriate Institutional Review Board (IRB) or Institutional Ethics Committee (IEC) before the study begins.
- The name of the approving ethics committee, approval number, and approval date are included in the manuscript, where applicable.
- The study complies with the ethical principles of the Declaration of Helsinki and applicable national regulations.
- Written informed consent has been obtained from all participants before enrollment.
- Additional consent has been obtained for the publication of identifiable patient information, photographs, videos, or clinical images.
- Participant privacy and confidentiality are protected, and personal identifiers are removed unless explicit written permission has been obtained.
- Research involving vulnerable populations has received appropriate ethical safeguards and protections.
Animal Welfare
Research involving animals must be conducted responsibly and in accordance with internationally accepted animal welfare standards.
Authors must ensure that:
- Animal studies have received prior approval from the appropriate Institutional Animal Ethics Committee (IAEC) or equivalent regulatory authority.
- The manuscript includes the name of the approving committee, approval number, and approval date, where applicable.
- Animal experiments comply with national legislation and internationally accepted guidelines for the care and use of laboratory animals.
- The number of animals used is scientifically justified.
- Appropriate measures are taken to minimize pain, suffering, stress, and discomfort.
- Humane endpoints, anesthesia, analgesia, and euthanasia procedures are clearly described where relevant.
Editorial Evaluation
During editorial assessment and peer review, the journal may request:
- Ethical approval certificates.
- Informed consent documentation.
- Clinical trial registration details, where applicable.
- Additional information regarding ethical compliance.
Failure to provide satisfactory documentation or evidence of ethical approval may result in rejection of the manuscript.
Compliance with COPE and ICMJE
The Global Journal of Dental Speciality (GJDS) follows the ethical recommendations of COPE and ICMJE when evaluating studies involving human participants and animals. Allegations of unethical research practices, lack of ethical approval, inadequate informed consent, or violations of animal welfare standards will be investigated in accordance with COPE procedures. Where ethical breaches are confirmed, the journal may reject the manuscript, publish a correction, issue an expression of concern, retract the article, or notify the relevant institutions or regulatory authorities, as appropriate.
