Publication Ethics Policy

The Global Journal of Dental Speciality (GJDS) is committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and ethical conduct in scholarly publishing. The journal follows the recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the World Medical Association Declaration of Helsinki, and internationally recognized best practices expected by leading indexing databases, including Scopus. All authors, reviewers, editors, and editorial staff are expected to comply with these ethical principles throughout the publication process.


1. Authorship

  • Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made substantial intellectual contributions to the research.
  • All authors must approve the final version of the manuscript before submission.
  • The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that all eligible contributors are included as authors and that no inappropriate authorship is assigned.
  • Any changes in authorship after submission require written consent from all authors and editorial approval.

2. Originality and Plagiarism

  • Submitted manuscripts must be original and unpublished.
  • Manuscripts must not be under consideration by another journal simultaneously.
  • All submissions are screened using plagiarism detection software such as Turnitin or an equivalent system.
  • Plagiarism, duplicate publication, self-plagiarism, and data fabrication are considered serious ethical violations and may result in rejection or retraction.

3. Data Access and Availability

  • Authors should maintain accurate records of the data supporting their research.
  • Editors may request access to original data for verification during the review process.
  • Authors are encouraged to make research data available in recognized repositories whenever appropriate while protecting participant confidentiality.

4. Data Citation

  • All datasets used in the research should be properly cited.
  • Data citations should include persistent identifiers such as DOIs whenever available.
  • Authors should acknowledge publicly available datasets and repositories that contributed to their research.

5. Source Acknowledgment

  • Authors must appropriately acknowledge the work of other researchers.
  • All references should be accurate, complete, and properly formatted according to the journal's citation style.
  • Permission must be obtained before reproducing copyrighted material.

6. Conflict of Interest Disclosure

  • Authors, reviewers, and editors must disclose any financial, institutional, professional, or personal relationships that could influence the research or editorial decision-making.
  • If no conflicts exist, authors should state: "The authors declare no conflict of interest."

7. Reporting Standards

Authors should ensure that manuscripts:

  • Present research accurately and honestly.
  • Include sufficient methodological detail for reproducibility.
  • Report findings objectively without manipulation.
  • Describe limitations where appropriate.
  • Avoid misleading or selective reporting of results.

8. Human Rights and Human Participant Protection

Research involving human participants must:

  • Comply with the principles of the Declaration of Helsinki.
  • Respect participant dignity, privacy, and confidentiality.
  • Obtain voluntary informed consent before participation.
  • Protect vulnerable populations in accordance with applicable ethical guidelines.

9. Animal Welfare

Research involving animals must:

  • Follow internationally accepted animal welfare guidelines.
  • Receive approval from the appropriate institutional ethics committee.
  • Minimize animal suffering and use the minimum number of animals necessary to achieve valid scientific results.

10. Research Ethics

Authors are responsible for ensuring that their research complies with all applicable ethical standards and institutional requirements. Studies involving humans, animals, biological materials, or sensitive data must receive appropriate ethical approval before the research begins.


11. Institutional Review Board (IRB) / Ethics Committee Approval

Where applicable, manuscripts must include:

  • Name of the approving Ethics Committee or Institutional Review Board (IRB).
  • Approval number or reference number.
  • Date of approval.

The Editorial Office may request supporting documentation during manuscript evaluation.


12. Informed Consent

For research involving identifiable human participants:

  • Written informed consent must be obtained before participation.
  • Consent must also be obtained for publication of identifiable images or personal information.
  • Authors should confirm within the manuscript that informed consent was obtained.

13. Clinical Trial Registration

Clinical trials should be registered in a publicly accessible trial registry before participant enrollment.

Authors should provide:

  • Trial registration number.
  • Name of the registry.
  • Registration date.

14. Author Accountability

Authors are responsible for:

  • The accuracy of all reported data.
  • The integrity of the research.
  • Proper citation of all sources.
  • Compliance with ethical standards.
  • Promptly notifying the journal if significant errors are identified after publication.

15. Research Misconduct

The journal has zero tolerance for research misconduct, including:

  • Plagiarism.
  • Duplicate publication.
  • Data fabrication.
  • Data falsification.
  • Image manipulation.
  • Citation manipulation.
  • Undisclosed conflicts of interest.
  • Authorship disputes.
  • Ethical approval fraud.

All allegations are investigated confidentially and fairly in accordance with COPE guidelines.


16. Corrections, Retractions, and Expressions of Concern

If significant errors or ethical issues are identified after publication, the journal may publish:

  • Corrections (Errata) for minor errors.
  • Corrigenda for author-identified errors.
  • Expressions of Concern while investigations are ongoing.
  • Retractions for unreliable findings, plagiarism, research misconduct, or serious ethical violations.

These actions are implemented in accordance with COPE Retraction Guidelines to maintain the integrity of the scholarly record.


17. Advertising Policy

The Global Journal of Dental Speciality (GJDS) maintains complete editorial independence from all advertising and commercial activities.

  • Advertising does not influence editorial decisions or the peer-review process.
  • Editorial content is evaluated solely on scientific merit, originality, and relevance.
  • Advertisements must comply with applicable legal and ethical standards.
  • The journal reserves the right to reject or remove advertisements that are misleading, deceptive, or inconsistent with the journal's mission and ethical principles.

18. Editorial Commitment

The Global Journal of Dental Speciality (GJDS) is dedicated to promoting responsible research, ethical publishing, transparency, and academic excellence. These principles form the foundation of all editorial, peer-review, and publication activities and ensure that the journal maintains the highest standards expected by the global scientific community and internationally recognized organizations such as ICMJE, COPE, and major indexing services including Scopus.
