The Global Journal of Dental Specialty (GJDS) recognizes the growing use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies in scholarly communication. This policy aims to ensure transparency, accountability, research integrity, and ethical use of AI-assisted tools in manuscript preparation and peer review.
Authors may use Generative AI tools to assist with language editing, grammar correction, formatting, and improving readability.
However, authors remain fully responsible for:
The accuracy and integrity of all manuscript content.
The originality of the work.
The validity of data, analyses, interpretations, and conclusions.
Proper citation and attribution of all sources.
The use of AI tools does not transfer responsibility from authors to any software or technology.
Authors must disclose the use of Generative AI tools if such tools have contributed substantially to the preparation of the manuscript.
The disclosure should include:
The name of the AI tool used.
The purpose for which the tool was used.
A brief description of how the tool assisted in manuscript preparation.
Such disclosures may be included in the acknowledgments section or another appropriate section of the manuscript.
Generative AI tools, chatbots, language models, or automated systems cannot be listed as authors or co-authors.
AI systems cannot:
Take responsibility for the content.
Approve manuscript versions.
Accept accountability for published work.
Fulfill authorship criteria.
Authorship is limited to human contributors who meet accepted authorship requirements.
Authors must not use Generative AI tools to:
Fabricate, falsify, or manipulate data.
Generate fraudulent research findings.
Create misleading images, figures, or results.
Conceal plagiarism or unethical research practices.
Produce fabricated references or citations.
Any misuse of AI technologies may constitute research misconduct.
Reviewers must maintain the confidentiality of manuscripts under review.
Reviewers should not upload confidential manuscript content, data, figures, or supplementary materials to public or third-party AI systems that may compromise confidentiality, privacy, intellectual property, or unpublished research.
Reviewers remain solely responsible for the content and quality of their reviews.
Editors may use AI-assisted tools for administrative and technical purposes, such as language assessment, plagiarism screening support, or workflow management.
Editorial decisions, manuscript evaluations, acceptance, rejection, and ethical assessments must always be made by qualified human editors and may not be delegated to AI systems.
The journal reserves the right to request clarification regarding the use of AI tools and may take appropriate editorial action if AI-generated content is found to violate ethical standards, publication policies, or research integrity requirements.
As AI technologies continue to evolve, the journal may revise this policy to reflect emerging best practices, ethical considerations, and developments in scholarly publishing.
