Abstract

Tele-dentistry has emerged as an innovative healthcare delivery model that utilizes telecommunications technologies to facilitate dental consultation, diagnosis, treatment planning, education, and follow-up care. The increasing prevalence of digital technologies, combined with the need to overcome geographical and socioeconomic barriers, has accelerated the adoption of tele-dentistry worldwide. This study reviews the role of tele-dentistry in improving access to oral healthcare, particularly in underserved and remote communities. The paper examines technological frameworks, implementation strategies, benefits, limitations, patient outcomes, and future prospects. Findings indicate that tele-dentistry significantly enhances access to dental services, reduces travel costs, facilitates early diagnosis, and promotes preventive oral healthcare. Despite challenges related to infrastructure, regulatory compliance, and digital literacy, tele-dentistry demonstrates considerable potential to reduce oral health disparities globally.
